On March 1, 2008, ECDC held its first Annual Outstanding Citizen Awards Dinner. About 130 people came out to see awards given to Alderman Delores Holmes and William Logan, Jr., two individuals that ECDC recognized as having exhibited outstanding leadership in our community. Clarence Jones, former speech writer and counsel to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was the Keynote Speaker. Over $15,000 was raised to support ECDC's efforts to revitalize the Westside of Evanston. Distinguished guests included: The Honorable Mayor Lorraine Morton, Aldermen Cheryl Wollin and Lionel Jean-Baptiste, Chief of Police Eddington, representatives from District 202, Mr. Eric Witherspoon, Mr. Frank Kaminski and Mr. Bill Stafford, representatives from District 65, Dr. Hardy Murphy and Board Members Bonnie Lockhart and Jerome Summers, Assistant City Manager Judy Aiello and Community Development Department Head James Wolinski.
